Now that Storm Barra has passed over the UK, fewer disruptions on the South West’s roads are expected.

Wind gusts and severe weather had caused delays throughout the region on Tuesday and Wednesday even stranding train passengers for hours after a train broke down in Dawlish.

The Met Office is predicting a milder day today (Thursday, December 9), good news for motorists and commuters.

A second wind warning issued for much of the South West and the Welsh coastline, which warned drivers to ‘take extra caution’, is no longer in force as of Wednesday at 6pm.

However, 10 flood warnings and 35 flood alerts are in force for England, which may cause travel delays in affected areas.

Yesterday’s flood warnings for the Cornwall coast have been removed, but the Rivers Clyst and Culm in Devon and their tributaries remain under warning.
